Inspection Engineer Job Vacancy at EACOP (Bomba la Mafuta)

The Inspection Engineer will support the EACOP Inspection Leader and cooperate with a team of four inspection specialists or engineers. The Inspection Engineer will be the interface for inspection activities between the pipeline engineer, corrosion engineer, site method, contractors, and authorities. EACOP’s main equipment under inspection responsibility includes:

Pipeline

Vessel: Pig Receivers, Pig Launcher, Drain Drums, Air Vessels, Nitrogen Cylinder, Pressure Vessels

Fire Heaters

Structures: Exhaust Stack, LOF, Communication Towers Storage Tanks Lifting Equipment and Structures

Piping

EPRS

Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish inspection services contracts for EACOP’s Destructive Testing, Welding, Piping/Pressure Vessel fabrication, Coating, and inspection plan.
• Review recommendations for corrective actions (material selection, design of equipment, coating, cathodic protection, operating conditions, corrosion inhibition, etc.).
• Analyze and optimize inspection activities for efficiency.
• Review management of change requests.
• Follow up and update risk-based inspection tools for piping and vessels.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, company rules, technical codes, and norms for repair/modifications/procurement of equipment.
• Maintain lifting register, flexible register, and temporary repair database up-to-date.
• Prepare inspection scope and campaigns, with follow-up on team performance and objectives (including monitoring KPIs like progress, budget, etc.).
• Act as the focal point for inspection and corrosion exchange.
• Review inspection programs and partial field shutdowns with the Inspection Leader.
• Review inspection reports, including analysis of findings, service assessments, and recommendations for remedial actions.
• Serve as Inspection Lead deputy during the Inspection Lead’s leave.
• Conduct regular audits of contractors and sites.
• Participate in technical audits of contracted companies regarding non-conformities.

Qualifications / Experience Required

Academic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or similar in Mechanics or Materials Engineering (or equivalent), with emphasis on mechanics, materials, metallurgy, and corrosion.
• Proficiency in oral and written English.
• ERB Registration as a Professional Engineer.
• Knowledge of oil & gas process equipment, technology, and piping.
• Familiarity with international Codes, Standards, and Regulations related to the inspection discipline (ASME, API, NACE, etc.).

Experience Required:

• Minimum 6 years’ experience as a supervisor or leader in inspection-related activities in the oil & gas industry, refinery, or petrochemical site.
• Knowledge of materials, metallurgy, welding, corrosion, failure modes, non-destructive testing, and inspection techniques.
• Experience with RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) methodology.
• Experience in full field shutdown inspection scope preparation and follow-up.
• Knowledge of CMIMS (Computerized Maintenance & Inspection Management System).
